10. Allergy as a Disconnection, Easy Resolution

Our definition of allergy, at the Balancing Center, is that it is a biochemical response to an emotional disconnection. We have found that allergy is initiated by a decision to disconnect from a person or a situation. If the situation is associated with a food, or toxic vapors, or pollens or animals, it is thought that these substances cause the allergy —and indeed they do cause the reaction—but we have found that the negative emotional association is what the body is expressing, when it reacts to the substances.

Little grains of pollen, cat hair, or dust and mold don’t cause the allergy, and healthy organic foods do not, but these substances invoke allergic symptoms when they serve as reminders of events that are holding negative emotional associations. The allergic symptom reflects the feeling around a significant event, and the context surrounding the event is what repeatedly triggers emotional recall. Then the body produces the symptoms that reflect the feeling.

If the original associative emotion was grief, reproducing the context will stimulate the symptoms related to sadness, such as stuffy nose, sneezing, and tears. If the situation was frightening, the symptom will be unexplained uneasiness, hives, free-floating anxiety, rapid heart beat, possibly panic, or cold sweaty hands and feet. If the feeling was originally one of anger, the stimulus would cause sudden irritability, or raging outbursts at minor situations.

There is a difference between just an uncomfortable memory and the unresolved memory that produces allergy. Allergy-producing memory always has an element of helplessness. When you are unable to confront, or escape, or to assert your own power in an effective way in the moment, you have to give up. The moment passes, but you are left with an on-going sense of incompletion and disempowerment. The uneasy memory becomes locked into the amygdala, and is maintained perpetually in the time-free zone, so that the event is perceived as continually current. The context surrounding an unresolved event, when it is accessed later by a similar context, can produce physical symptoms that reflect the original situation, no matter how long ago it happened.

Food allergy is often thought to be initiated by over-exposure. We have not found this to be the case. Over-exposure would make a mild allergy that was clinically unnoticeable become very noticeable and bothersome, so the assumption that over-exposure causes allergy does make sense. However, had there not been a negative emotional association to begin with, over-exposure could not have created an allergic reaction. There would be no basis for storing any sort of emotional association.

The Impact of Intention upon Physical Processes

Pavlov showed that the dog who hears a bell simultaneously when he has an emotional experience such as receiving food, will continue to create a food-welcoming response whenever he hears that same bell, or any bell at that same pitch. The associative information is maintained in his limbic brain as a subconscious somatic response. It will surface repeatedly upon reexposure to the same stimulus. Dr. Pavlov has given us a precise description of the process of allergy. In the case of his dog, it was a positive emotional association.

Double blind control-group protocol, currently required to validate experimental proof as scientifically unassailable, is actually based upon the perception that the intention of the experimenter, as he visualizes a desired result, might alter the out come of the experiment. To avoid the intrusion of thought-waves, testing procedures have been designed with that in mind, and are accepted in the world of “hard” science as an absolute requirement for validating experimental results. Double-blind testing with control groups establishes the results as scientifically acceptable and publishable.

Oddly enough, this clearly demonstrates that the scientific community acknowledges that intention can change physical structures and processes. At the same time, even though most scientifically trained people scoff at the idea that feelings, thoughts, or intentions could possibly create a change in an enzyme, the entire structure of scientific protocol is based upon the concept that it can.

Meridians Carry Vibrational Information to the Cells

The experience that creates these physiological changes is not physical, it is emotional. An emotional event is a vibrational event. Thoughts, feelings, intentions, and beliefs, are all non-physical. They have no structure, are neither measurable nor weighable, so these aspects of our everyday experience must be consigned to the realm of vibration.

There is a fairly complex array of vibrational frequencies surrounding the physical structures of living things, it’s like an envelope of invisible light, comprised of concentric auric fields, as well as concentrated whiring energy fields that form chakras, and the traveling vessels that carry emotional information, the meridians. The non-physical part of us is what guides our molecular and chemical processes. Vibrational information, circulated through the flow of the meridians, is what initiates physical changes. Meridians transmit signals for illness, as well as signals for healing.

This is not new. It is an ancient Chinese concept, that the physical form we observe as firm and solid is in fact the crystallized duplicate of the auric field. The auric field has full knowledge of all the functions of the body, what they should do, what they aren’t doing, and why, and what each one needs to change, in order to become harmonious with the whole. The information that holds the template of perfect function is contained within the auric field, and the meridians weave that knowledge through the cellular structures of the physical body. The physical body has no choice but to respond within the guidelines of the auric patterns, since the physical body and the auric field are really duplicates of the same organism, held in different frequencies.

Vibrational directives are conveyed by the meridians as they circulate the life force, Chi, and this network of knowledge is called the “body-consciousness.” This is the frequency that we tap into when we communicate with the body-consciousness through muscle testing.

It follows that if the meridian network that carries Chi throughout the tissues becomes interrupted or unbalanced due to trauma, limiting beliefs, or a decision made under duress, the directives become altered, and are forced to adapt to adversity in a way that protects it. Strategies for self-protection may be required in the moment, but may not be entirely favorable, because in that case the physical body can lose contact with the energy fields that are expected to guide and inform it. Without clear guidance, the cells and the systems become confused, can’t coordinate effectively, and the body becomes vulnerable. Discomfort, even illness, becomes likely.

However, as soon as the biofield can stabilize itself, then the meridians can resume their natural connection within the tissues, and resume the transmission of the vibrational information that keeps the biochemical processes functioning optimally. In that way, the body generates spontaneous self-healing. This concept forms the basis for most alternative healing modalities, as well as the basis for our work at the Bioenergy Balancing Center

Next, we are going to explore a way to identify the hidden basis for creating an allergy, and recruit the body’s capability to release it.

The Limbic Brain Produces Allergic Reactions

With muscle testing we can tune in to the body’s vibrational perceptions of biochemical and enzymatic processes, and ask it to tell us how to resolve metabolic dysfunctions, if necessary. From there, the body-consciousness reflects a vibrational suggestion that could profoundly influence the physical, maybe a few days or weeks later. The biofield shifts first, and the physical tissues follow, unless something else intervenes.

The amygdala holds the space for the creation of allergy. It is one tiny place in the limbic brain that is in the “time-free zone,” since it does not acknowledge sequential time. Not all these events form the basis for an allergy. They become a source for allergy only when the situation specifically creates helplessness. When something devastating happens and you are made to feel powerless and helpless, this specific event will be maintained as an on-going unresolved emotional experience.

The amygdala perceives such an event as continuously happening, continuously maintained in a zone of consciousness that holds all events as current and simultaneous. This is what allows an emotionally charged memory to break open into the conscious awareness of what we perceive to be “current time.”

When the consciousness of the body is confronted with the same context that surrounds a highly charged situation from the past, the same emotional responses are aroused. The bell rings, and the dog salivates, but even when there is no food he still salivates at the sound of the bell. Physical symptoms are repeatedly triggered that express the feelings experienced in the original situation.

Most food allergies come from a disconnection from parents or from society at large. Milk is usually about disconnecting from Mom and wheat is usually a disconnection from Dad. For Caucasian and black Americans, wheat can also symbolize the culture, since it is our national grain. Rice is the national grain of the oriental cultures, and corn is the grain of the American Indian, and so forth.

Any occasion that is disorienting or disillusioning about one’s country, or a separation from the tribe, can create an allergy to the national grain that ordinarily would have symbolized trust and safety in the world. If that trust is broken, allergic reactions will surface upon every reexposure to that specific grain, but often this is not recognized as “allergy” because it induces amino acid utilization disorders that surface indirectly as enzyme repression. Subsequent metabolic disruption would be symptomatically so diverse that it would appear as a series of separate afflictions, but might have all been derived from enzyme errors due to a wheat allergy.

There are many times when the negative association with the grain does not take place in the current life-time of the client, but has been brought through as a strong imprint from a past life. Could really be past life, or could just be a metaphor, constructed in the way that a dream is constructed, in order to identify the feeling behind the allergy. The content of the story, or the origin of the story, is not what is important. What matters is that the story can kindle a powerful emotional reaction. That strong response is what leads to resolution, because it resonates deeply with the original occurrance that created the allergy. In that state of recognition, the meridian is also being traced, so that the amygdala is able to release the emotional charge.

Pollen allergies are usually associated with difficult events that have occurred outdoors. Or they might connect you to feelings about a funeral, or a wedding, or punishment as a child when Mom yelled, locked the door, forced you to stay outside, and then started drinking, and forgot to let you in until after dark.

Maybe as a child you felt friendly, and wanted to be helpful in the garden, and in the midst of your lovely feelings suddenly you hear a shrill voice saying “NO NO! Those aren’t weeds, stupid, what’s the matter with you? Get out of here! !” and you run wailing into the house feeling crushed, confused, hurt, and unbearably disappointed. You were just doing what you saw Mom doing, pulling out little plants.

After that, when the same pollens are in the air, they will invoke an allergic reaction. On cue, every spring, in response to the context that surrounded that incident, the amygdala sends out the signal of intense grief, despair, and helplessness. The hypothalamus picks it up and initiates a histamine release to reproduce a crying reaction, (stuffy nose, runny eyes, sneezing, etc.) Even though you may have completely forgotten the incident, the limbic brain remembers.
